Welcome

Bryony Doran is a writer

- A Wordsmith
- A Word Painter

As a lover of words in both the spoken and written form, she exalts in the exquisite layers of subtlety and ambiguity in the English Language. Her family are frequently treated to puns and spoonerisms so oblique that they are kept firmly on their linguistic toes.

Bryony writes with a deceptive lightness of touch. To read her work is to allow time to escape: to fall into a deftly spun web of other lives and emotions refracted with glass-edged sharpness to powerful effect.

Born in a Youth Hostel on Dartmoor and brought up in Cornwall, Bryony studied Fashion at Manchester Metropolitan University. She then went on to run her own business which gave her the freedom and flexibility to further her writing career. Whilst still pursuing a few other business interests, Bryony now writes and coaches full time.

Bryony’s great love in life, besides her family and nature, is to sit in a window languishing, cat-like, in a pool of sunlight. She also has a great fondness for Chelsea Buns which, sadly, are in short supply in the north of England. Once, on a journey north, her one remaining Chelsea Bun tragically became tainted with windscreen wash. Undeterred, she later said that it gave it … ‘a sort of minty taste.’
