Alison Lapper

Wednesday 10th June 2009

as with everything else I am very slothful with opening my emails – unless they look exciting so opened an old one today to find it was from Alison Lapper the artist who was the model for a statue that stood in Trafalgar square. I emailed her ages ago, telling her how she had inspired me to write the book and that she had changed my perceptions of beauty, and she has emailed back saying she would love a copy of the book. I feel very honoured. Wrote a poem yesterday and went with Bill my partner to a poetry reading. We both read. There were a lot of young people there and I was very impressed by the standard. I found some of the use of language very inspiring. It is thundering as I write. I love storms.
