Recording

Tuesday 25th February 2014

Last night I went to Tom Chester's studio to record some of my work. It was a very interesting experience and took a lot less time than I thought it would - just over an hour. I picked two short peices to read: a chapter from my novel, The China Bird and a story from my collection, The Sand Eggs.

When I was reading from the novel I felt as if I fell straight into character and voice. It was far easier to read than the short story and a l realised afterwards, when we went for a well earned G&T, was that I had lived with the voice of The China Bird for years and that was why it was so easy to fall back into character. It made me wonder about the sequel everyone is always asking about!
