Writing Routes

In the book, ‘Writing Routes A Resource Handbook of Therapeutic Writing’, I have a piece titled, ‘Broken Face’ where I write about my experiences and the emotions surrounding the time when my son, who was a teenager at the time, had a major operation on his face and afterwards had his jaw wired for six weeks.  Writing about how I felt, which encompassed such emotions as fear, joy, confusion and guilt, enabled me to let go of some of these emotions and allowed me to remain strong enough to nurse my son back to health.
When, thankfully, things returned to normal I re read my scribbled page of notes that I had made during my son’s illness, and from there emerged a poem, ‘Broken Face’ To see this poem please click on, Poetry – Published work.
