Matter

Matter is an annual anthology of new writing from MA Writing students and alumni at Sheffield Hallam University, founded in 2000 by MA Writing students, Emily Pedder and Leigh Money. Matter remains in the hands of current students who form the editorial team. Quality of design is fundamental to Matter’s conception, ensuring professional production values that allow the book to compete in the marketplace.

I have submitted and had work published in three editions of Matter and have also been a member of the editorial team.

 

Guest authors have included Hilary Mantel, Ali Smith, Michel Faber, Jackie Kay, Jacob Polley and Julia Copus. An extract from 'The Short History of the Tractors in Ukrainian', by Marina Lewycka, was published in Matter whilst she was a student on the MA course.
