The China Bird author Bryony Doran was joined by Bill Allerton, a writer and publisher, at Book Swap Durham's meeting in West Rainton, Country Durham. The event was part of International Women’s Day and raised £170 for women’s rights charity Womankind Worldwide.

Organiser Annette Morris said: “We’re really pleased to have raised even more than we did last year to help women around the world who are much less fortunate than us here in the West. We’re very grateful to Bryony and Bill for joining us and making it very special – it’s not every day you get the chance to ask writers and publishers questions about their work.”
